Victor S. Tkachenko started his work with Michael Chekhov technique in Moscow in 1985 as the founder and director of Chekhov Studio, a residence company at Anton Chekhov House Museum. In 1987, Chekhov Studio, under Tkachenko's leadership, was reorganized into the Center of Theatre Research at the Union of Theatre Workers of the USSR. Victor's research of the technique were continued at Michael Chekhov workshops and master clases for professional actors he conducted in Russia, Israel and USA.

In 2004, Mr. Tkachenko gave series of Michael Chekhov lectures and classes at the Theatre Artists Workshop in Westport, Connecticut. In 2006, he founded the Michael Chekhov Center in Ridgefield, a nonprofit association the purpose of which was to advance Michael Chekhov’s principles of theatre and arts and to keep his lasting presence in Ridgefield, a town in Connecticut, where the first Michael Chekhov School in America operated 1939 - 1943. 

In 2009 the Michael Chekhov Center, in collaboration with the Ridgefield Town Hall and town's cultural organizations created the first Michael Chekhov International Theatre Festival, with Mr. Tkachenko as the vice president/ artistic director. Since 2009 the Michael Chekhov Festival in Ridgefield is an annual event; in 2016 the town of Ridgefield hosted eighth Michael Chekhov Festival.

In 2007 at the Michael Chekhov symposium at Sorbonne, Paris, Victor met the President of the National Michael Chekhov Association Lisa Dalton. In 2010 they founded Two Chekhovs  Production company. It's production The Darling  based on Anton Chekhov's story was a part of the New York International Fringe Festival.
